Founding Spirit and Vision
The Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE) was established in late 1981, coinciding with the Education Department's launch of a pilot scheme for Computer Studies in secondary schools. Founded by a group of dedicated educators united by a shared vision, the Association was formed to meet the needs of the time—fostering professional exchange, providing a platform for mutual support, and collectively advancing computer education in Hong Kong.
Professional Leadership and Diverse Expertise
Our team of advisors and council members includes professors, retired and serving principals, and teachers, all committed to promoting the application of Information Technology and computer education in teaching and learning. Beyond supporting Computer Studies, HKACE advocates for the integration of e-learning across all subjects and is dedicated to popularising and advancing STEAM education. In recent years, the Association has proactively allocated resources toward digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) education, assisting schools and the wider community in enhancing their capacity to utilise technologies in the age of educational innovation.
Social Impact and Community Network
HKACE boasts an extensive membership network comprising associate members, school members, professional members and corporate members. This network serves as a vital platform for communication and collaboration between educators and industry professionals. Over the decades, our council members have significantly contributed to formulating and promoting policies for computer and IT education. Our services now reach teachers, students, and parents across primary, secondary, and special education, and are progressively expanding to kindergartens, international schools, and Hong Kong Children School in the Greater Bay Area.
Furthermore, HKACE is a government-recognised charitable organisation and a corporate elector in the Technology and Innovation functional constituency of the Legislative Council (LegCo), actively participating in public affairs related to educational and technological advancement.
Looking Ahead: Celebrating 45 Years of Impact
As we celebrate our 45th anniversary, we look to the future with a commitment to walking hand-in-hand with the education community. Together, we will pioneer new frontiers in digital education and innovative technology, writing a new chapter for educational excellence in Hong Kong.
